Aaron Brink Returns to GC
Wednesday, February 17, 2010
Article By Phil Lanides
He hasn’t stepped into the Gladiator Challenge cage for years now, but UFC veteran Aaron Brink (22-17-0-1) has been given another chance. Many thought his career was over when he left the MMA world for the world of hardcore pornography, which saw him descend into a lifestyle of drug abuse. The 34 year-old veteran of forty fights found himself featured on the A&E show “Intervention,” where family and friends confronted him about his lifestyle. A change happened, and Brink has given himself over to getting his life cleaned up. Part of his process is getting his fighting career back on track. And this Sunday at “Vision Quest,” live from Soboba Casino, Brink will look to do just that as he battles undefeated heavyweight prospect Travis Browne (8-0) for the Gladiator Challenge Interim Heavyweight Championship.

Make no mistake: Gladiator Challenge Heavyweight Champion Angel De Anda is the champion, and will defend his belt on March 6th against Ivan Pack. But this bout between Brink and Browne will determine the challenger to the winner of that fight. And Brink hopes that it’s him. He’s had to overcome so much in his life, from the addition to a stint behind bars, while taking on such MMA superstars as former UFC Middleweight Champion Rich “Ace Franklin,” UFC/PRIDE veteran Gan McGee, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski, UFC veteran “Cabbage” Correira, submission wizard Jeremy Horn, current StrikeForce Heavyweight Champion Alistair Overeem, and StrikeForce fighter “Iron” Mike Whitehead. His bout with Browne will be another tough contest for the weathered veteran.

Travis Browne is 6’4,” 250 lbs of strength and power. Undefeated, this three-time GC veteran has six victories coming by way of TKO/KO, and is looking to add the GC belt to his resume. He also wants to add a fighter the caliber of Brink to his conquer list. But it’s going to be tough for Browne because, after all, once you’ve faced down your demons as Brink has, not much else scares you.

Gladiator Challenge will return to southern California's Soboba Casino in San Jacinto for “Vision Quest” this Sunday, February 21st. Tickets are available through the Virtual Box Office (http://www.virtualboxoffice.com/)
